Junk Warehouse, the creation of Lori O’Callaghan, is a unique business that tosses out the pre-conceived notions about what things should be used for. Lori has done a great job of making the dream of a creative, independent, woman-driven business come true. At the conception of the business Lori was a stay at home mom, and shared the unusual knack for finding junk and repurposing it as home décor and artful clutter. One and one half years later, the once small business has grown from its 1200 square foot warehouse space to a 4000 square foot showroom and workshop.

Lori is the heart and soul of the business where she saws, paints, drills, glues and creates unique items for the showroom walls and floor. The majority of her time is spent refurbishing, repairing and hand painting turn-of-the-century wooden furniture. Because so much time is spent on junk hunts, garbage rescues, flea markets and creating, Junk Warehouse opens its doors once a month for three days.

Lori prides herself on not only offering unique items for purchase but also provides a source for customers to come and get great decorating ideas. Display is very important in the store. Products that can be found at Junk Warehouse include; home accessories, architectural salvage, solidly built restored furniture, rusty vintage iron, decorative cast iron, time worn collectables and flea market finds. Beds, dressers, buffets, and dining sets are among the furniture items you can find at each sale. Her wares are displayed in vignette style as bedrooms, dining rooms and living spaces.

Between sales, the showroom is disassembled, wall colors are changed and new items are added. This creates a fresh palette to work from and keeps customers coming back to see what new things are available. Customers are notified of upcoming sales by postcard. Other services Junk Warehouse offers are furniture painting classes; where you can learn to paint your own furniture "Junk Warehouse Style", furniture painting; Junk warehouse will paint and distress your furniture, and "Decorating with Junk" seminars; held Wednesday evenings before each sale. Look under classes and seminars for more information.
